Just as nowadays families come in all shapes and sizes so does a family holiday. From classic beach summer trips in the Mediterranean to long haul expeditions there is an incredible range of holidays to suit all types of families and age groups. We will guide you through the myriad choices and options and help ensure that you have those incredible memories where you and your family explore the world together.
We have travelled with the family to many worldwide destinations and have sold all types of family holidays so please give us a call about your next family trip; from Greece and Spain via the sights of Ancient Egypt to the beaches of Sri Lanka or the Caribbean and the jungles of Thailand or Costa Rica there are just so many family friendly destinations.
The Mediterranean & Europe
The Mediterranean is justly the most popular family destination due to its proximity, value for money and weather. Spain has the biggest choice from busy mainland resorts to quieter Balearic spots tucked away in Mallorca or Menorca. If you want something different without the heat and crowds – try northern Spain with epic beaches and great seafood. Italian beaches can be incredibly busy in July and August so you can get away from it inland in Tuscany/Umbria or try Puglia in the south or perhaps the views on the incomparable Amalfi Coast. Greece has a wealth of island options, many with excellent “sights” nearby, or you can explore the mainland. Turkey has a gorgeous coastline and there’s the excellent “gulet” cruise option. Croatia is a popular option and does not have the depth of development elsewhere so prices can be higher.
If you are looking for family activity resorts and kids clubs then there are choices across the Mediterranean region. You can expect excellent child-care, water sport (and other) tuition and a wide range of activities to keep all ages busy while parents take the chance to relax.
Away from the Mediterranean talk to us about skiing, city breaks, French canal boat holidays or trips further north to explore volcanic Iceland or snowy Lapland.

Further afield – explore the world with your family!
Outside the summer months you may wish to look further afield to the Canary Islands, it is very family friendly and you can get away from the crowds easily. Perhaps consider more exotic options such as Morocco and Jordan or the huge family fun-filled destination of Dubai.
If you are ready to head further afield then there are classic beach destinations in the Caribbean (including Mexico), Indian Ocean and the Far East – such as Thailand. If exploring a country or region in more depth is something you want then there is a huge choice – we can either tailor something for you individually or you can join a group of like-minded families. This is a real area of expertise for us at Putney Travel so please do not hesitate to ask for advice on family tours anywhere in the world!
- Try an alternative winter option with time in the Arctic Circle in Finland; reindeer, husky sledging, the Northern Lights and snow, snow, snow. If you go before Christmas then you might find yourself hunting for you know who.
- If you are planning a big family summer holiday consider travelling in the second half of August. The prices for flights and accommodation often drop from the middle of the month and its gives the whole family something to look forward to throughout the school break!
- The best family villa properties for the summer holidays in Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey will be snapped up early. If you know that you want to do this then we suggest you book early – before January.
